Our approach in helping clients with their lifestyle change is compassionate and tailored to meet their needs. Our goal is to help enable seniors to improve their quality of life by aligning lifestyle with personal needs and goals. Rightsizing is about getting rid of the things you do not need without losing sight of which possessions bring you joy. We are committed to handling every aspect of your move with respect, dignity, and care, while minimizing lifestyle disruption during the transition.
Making a move at any age can be difficult and stressful but downsizing as a senior adds another layer of complexities to the process. At Elevate Transitions we understand the unique needs of seniors and work with care and patience to make the transition as smooth as possible.
1. Specialized Expertise: We specialize in helping older adults with all aspects of moving, including downsizing, organizing and coordinating the move.
2. Reduce Stress and Overwhelm: By allowing us to manage the logistics it allows you to focus on the emotional aspects of the move.
3. Customized, Compassionate, Approach: We tailor our services to the needs of the senior, offering guidance while respecting your autonomy and treasured valuables
4. Professional Connections: Senior Move Managers often have a trusted network of services providers that they can offer for an array of services
5. Minimize Family Tension: Families may find it challenging to agree on how to handle the move or which items should be kept. A professional third party can offer neutral guidance, helping to mediate emotional decisions while reducing family tension.
6. Safety First: We can help prevent injuries by handling the physical labor that can pose a risk if you are a senior.
7. Liability: We are insured, and our packing job is systematic and goes above and beyond what most moving companies would do.
8. Source Supplies: We bring all the supplies, so you don’t have to worry about schlepping them to the house. We provide a variety of sizes of moving boxes, bubble wrap, tape and paper padding.
These are usually done with one or two team members, and we try to schedule them in 4-hour increments. It can be an emotional process and minimizing the window of time helps so that it doesn’t become too much to handle. These services are offered based on an expressed need at the home consultation
Depending on if the needs of the clients, your” Team Leader” may pay you a visit about a week prior to the move. This helps ensure that sorting and prep work has been accomplished. Alternatively, your Team Leader will arrive on Pack Day between 30-60 minutes early to walk thru and tour the home to make sure we understand what is to be packed and what is to be omitted. We tag furniture and items that are being with blue painters’ tape to help identify them. At this time, we will also remind you to consider the items that you will need in your “overnight bag”.
We source quality materials that are professional grade and bring them to you. The Team Leader will walk the team thru their various assignments to ensure everyone understand the goals. From there we systematically pack items to ensure their safety. Delicate items such as antiques, artwork and décor is handled with extra care using custom packing techniques. We do our best to start by packing the non-essentials first. This gives you a chance to make sure that you have everything you need prior to it being packed. Everything is labeled according to where it came from or where it is going and the contents in the box. We try our best to label shelfing units and the drawers of furniture that is being moved so that we can put back the contents to its original space.
The Move Manager will meet the moving company at the house and walk them thru to make sure the correct items are identified and being loaded on the truck. It is not uncommon for one other team member to join the Move Manager on move morning if there are a lot of last-minute essentials to still be packed up. The moving company will bring the wardrobe boxes so that hanging clothes can be left on hangers and transferred as is. Our staff will ensure all bedding, lighting, toiletries, electronics, wardrobes, and kitchen items such as coffee pot and perishables are packed last. The refrigerator and freezer box is the last one on the truck and the first one off so that items remain cold and fresh.
Once we have a better idea what time we will be arriving at your new home we will reach out to the rest of the Elevate Transitions team to meet us over there. The first hour is typically spent opening kitchen boxes and starting to set that up. Next, the furniture starts to come in and it is placed according to the established floor plan. The move management team unpacks all boxes and places items in their designated locations if they have been predetermined. Items that do not have a predetermined home will be place in and logical and efficient way. We do our best to mirror the location of where we found items if possible so that you can navigate and find everything easily on your own. We will even make your bed and make sure your electronics are all plugged for you to use. We start by prioritizing the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom so that your space is livable if we are not able to finish the same day. Occasionally, we need to come back the following day to finish up if we are not done by 5:30 p.m.
We can arrange for a clean out company to haul away anything left behind for donations or trash. We can help pack up anything if necessary and oversee this process. We will even make sure you home is broom cleaned prior to leaving.
